Project: Aussie Bread Tags for Wheelchairs

Suburb: Tea Tree Gully, South Australia

Adam is a Street Champion who, along with his school community, is collecting bread tags as part of the Aussie Bread Tags for Wheelchairs Project.

He introduced collecting at his school 3 years ago and collecting has spread to 2 other sister schools in the community. Through Aussie Breadtags for Wheelchairs (Jenny Cooper founded this programme) the plastic is sold to a company in Robe who recycles the plastic into household items.

"...seeing them being turned into another useable item is awesome."

Adam, what’s your best piece of advice for anyone embarking on an ‘In Our Street’ project?

“Try to get family to spread the word about your project, then you will see it grow bigger and bigger.”

What has this project meant to you?

“It has been great knowing that we have saved many kilos of bread tags from ending up in landfill, and seeing them being turned into another useable item is awesome.”
