Find a local native plant to suit your purpose!

Seeds for Change is a Junction Community Centre initiative. Port Environment Centre is assisting by helping to share their work with the community.

About Seeds for Change: An Ottoway project

Approx 2,500 plants were propagated and shared by the Seeds for Change project.

This project shows that we can create habitat whilst enriching our environment, community and lives.

The Junction Community Centre (Ottoway) created Seeds for Change – an initiaive to help residents affordably reduce heat on their streets and homes while increasing local biodiversity and growing community connections.

Seeds for Change reached out to Ottoway residents, schools, faith communities, businesses and the City of Port Adelaide Enfield to participate in a series of free propagation and planting events.  Endemic (local), drought tolerant species were planted in residents gardens, verges and parklands.

All plantings were accompanied by Seeds for Change signs with a QR code to the 100 fact sheets on the Seeds for Change Facebook page.

Seeds for Change Ottoway – a Junction Community Centre initiative – is funded by Green Adelaide and supported by the people of Ottoway, the City of Port Adelaide Enfield and the Honorable Susan Close, Member for Port Adelaide. The project team thanks all those who have supported this community learning and sharing initiative.

Local plant fact sheets

Here’s an example – but there’s 90+ more.

These fact sheets describe the basic info (size, flowers etc.) of local native plants, including planting and care info, how to propogate and the fauna they support.

Let’s see more of our endemic species growing in verges, gardens and parks to provide habitat for local fauna.
