Join us online to ask our waste & recycling legends all your low waste questions.

Meet your panellists:

• Alana Potts, Project Officer – Plastics and Packaging, Green Industries SA, Government of South Australia. Alana has worked closely with colleagues and key stakeholders to develop and implement South Australia’s Single-use and Other Plastic Products (Waste Avoidance) Act. She provides research and project support in relation to single-use plastics and packaging policy and is the lead contact for public enquiries relating to the legislation.
• Cameron O’Malley, works with CAWRA (Central Adelaide Waste and Recycling Authority) to provide education and site tours for school and community groups. Cam runs his own waste education business, Bin Thinking, and has previously worked with local council to deliver waste education programs to students and residents. Cam has a passion for sharing his knowledge and experience at a grassroots level and believes that real change can start in the smallest of places.
• Patrick Lally is an active member of our local community, and part of PECWAG (Port Environment Centre Waste Advisory Group). Pat has been busy establishing various community solutions to reduce waste, including the St Bede’s Community Recycling Station and compostable packaging collection bins at local cafes. He is also a volunteer collector for the Semaphore Compost Network, helping to divert food waste from local cafes to home compost.
• Melissa Rayner, Program Coordinator – Plastic Free SA. Plastic Free SA is a behaviour change program that works directly with food retailers to assist their switch from sing-use plastics to better alternatives. Over the last 3 years they’ve helped SA businesses eliminate over 7 million single-use plastic items. Previously Melissa developed and founded The Footprint Experience Cafe and Catering
  business, with commitment to lowering environmental impacts in the hospitality industry.

*This session is aimed at those living in SA. It’s important to know that recycling information varies by council area. When it comes to recycling, we will specifically be hearing about practices at CAWRA, the Central Adelaide Waste and Recycling Authority, which services Cities of Port Adelaide Enfield and Charles Sturt.

This event is supported by PECWAG (Port Environment Centre Waste Advisory Group); a group of passionate individuals working to influence policy and divert waste from landfill in their local community. It is delivered by Port Environment Centre and shared by the Greater Adelaide Environment Network (GAEN).
