We live in an age of hyper-mobility, mass migration, diaspora and dislocation. This meeting we are pondering the theme of places we have loved, left or lost.

There are sometimes incentives to over-ride or forget the attachments we may have to the places that grew us. The pain of loss, or for some of us, difficulty finding the language to express what places mean to us, outside of their resource value, convenience, or aesthetic appeal (not that there’s anything wrong with these aspects).

It’s a good time to remember and honour the places we love, we left, or lost.
